Literature Text

Back when you were a diamond
you was smoother than glass
And you shone in the sunlight
In every moment that passed

You was round and so perfect
Not a facet in sight
But then life was a laser
And crept in like the night

And you hated the angles
That it cut into you
Every time that it hit its mark
You'd regret and you'd rue

But you couldn't see the colors
That the light now threw out
With each odd-angled facet
All the colors danced about

And now I want to show you
How much better you are
The more ways that life cuts you
The more you glitter like a star
Just cause
